Word from the author:
The project "Play of Speech and Language" engaged young people with speech disorder in a creative process that lead to a play "Jacques or the Submission" by Eugene Ionesco.
We wanted to use Ionesco's work in which language is relative, absurd, illogic, comic and satiric that is actually very potent, in order to emphasize relativity of speech disorder and relativity of disability itself in this project. Regardless of speech disorder for this young people the creative process provided a ground for their other great potentials to shine.
The goal of this project was overcome the psychological difficulties that usually accompany speech disorder using elements of art, therapy, drama and the process of producing a play. We also wanted to encourage the promotion of these young people as representatives of many others dealing with some kind of disability. In some way we taught all of us, ourselves, themselves, their loved ones, professional and cultural public what and how much these young people are capable of. Also we hoped that creative expression will make us more satisfied and happier people and we think we succeeded.
