Opening of Inner Space

For now Nowhere is a play and a final art work for PhD. thesis "Opening of Inner Space" by Dina Radoman.

In her thesis Dina Radoman explores the relations of "inner"  mental space and the physical space of theatre and stage.

The research for the thesis was done though workshops that explored: mental space of dramatic characters, different spaces in theatre building, relations that actors form with the spaces within the theatre, how does the space influence dramatic action, how can space inspire and help the performance.

Articulation of the stage space was  based on the workshops conclusions and experiments searching for how much visual content can be subtracted from the stage in sense of stenography and props and still not lack anything.

Three chairs and a stack of paper is the result.

This is a story about two ways of reacting to fear or strong emotions. One protagonist flees physically because she fears that the emotion will overpower her and the other flees in her mind turning off all emotions and pretending that everything is fine. Both ways leave the emptiness inner and outer. There is no confrontation with fear so this leads nowhere - "For now Nowhere".

"A play  directed by Dina Radoman is characteristic for it's minimalism that directly penetrates into the essence of drama and characters, pulling out on the surface heaps of the dilemmas and fears they have."
